The existing Squarespace platform
Our stance: every business owner has different needs. We don’t apply one playbook to everyone. We find the real constraint, do the work in the right order, and let you decide how far to take it.
The prior vendor had left a shell: a few pages, thin AI-written content, and no link structure. We could have sold a rebuild. But the platform was workable, so we worked with it. We built out real pages for authority, replaced the weak content, added links, started blogging, ran press releases, and switched on Google Ads. The result, all on the same Squarespace site, is organic traffic climbing from zero to roughly 141 visits a month, Google Business Profile impressions up about thirty percent, and referring domains and maps traffic both roughly doubling. More impressions, more calls, more recognition, without the cost and risk of a migration.
Why a documented game plan matters
A functioning site does not always need to be thrown away. A rebuild carries real cost and downtime risk, and it does not guarantee better rankings, because Google rewards content depth, structured pages, profile activity, and links, all of which this platform supports. Before tossing resources or migrating, the right move is to see what you have, prove whether it can rank, and only rebuild if the platform truly blocks you. Here, it did not.
Why getting involved multiplies it
For a local service business, reviews and responsiveness are close to everything. The single biggest limit here is a review gap versus competitors, and that is largely in the owner’s hands: asking for reviews, responding to them, and staying visible on social and press. Owner involvement is what turns rising impressions into booked business.
Questions this raises
No. The prior vendor left a thin site, but the Squarespace platform itself was workable, so we built it out instead of starting over. That saved the cost and downtime of a migration and still produced the growth.
It has limits: images are a little harder to tag and some controls are fewer. But this case shows a workable platform can absolutely rank and convert when the content, structure, and links are done right. We only recommend a rebuild when the platform genuinely blocks results.
The review gap. Impressions and rankings are climbing, but competitors have more reviews, which caps how much of that visibility turns into calls. Closing that gap is the next priority, and it needs the owner’s involvement.
For immediate visibility while the organic foundation built underneath. We activated a Google sign-up promotion, saw a positive lift, and kept ads and organic working together rather than depending on either alone.
A 30-minute call to find where your growth is stuck, with a sensible next step for you.
