What we did

The plan, in the right order

  1. Consolidated a WordPress site and a separate Shopify store into one Shopify store, removing redirect chains

  2. Cut existing B-roll and product footage into short, useful videos for Facebook and Instagram

  3. Answered questions and comments in the community instead of letting them sit unanswered

  4. Turned tough questions and negative comments into video replies that showed the product honestly

  5. Timed content around trade shows like ICAST so awareness peaked when buyers were paying attention

  6. Kept buyers informed in public when launch timelines slipped, instead of going quiet

The results, in context

What changed

Over 16 months the site earned 119,283 organic clicks from 614K impressions, a 19.4% click-through rate that most stores never see. Comparing August to October this year with the same months last year, impressions grew 55% and average position improved from 10.6 to 6.1. Most clicks come from people searching the brand name directly, and that is the point: social video and community conversation created the demand, and a single clean store captured it. The brand now also ranks first for "jet kayak" and "jet drive kayak", and second for "jet powered kayak" and "electric kayak", category searches where new buyers start.

Honest assessment

Where things stand today

What is working well

  • 2025 ICAST Best of Show award, amplified across social channels while buyers were paying attention
  • Branded search demand created by consistent social video and community engagement
  • One Shopify store with clean URLs, so search engines and buyers land in the right place
  • Top rankings for category terms like "jet kayak" and "jet drive kayak"Honest, public updates during launch delays, which built customer trust instead of costing it

Still on the table

  • Desktop click-through rate (10%) lags mobile (25%), so desktop titles and imagery need work
  • More content for broad terms like "electric kayak", which has 19.5
  • K impressions and room to win more clicks
  • International visibility in Canada, Australia and the UK, where positions sit in the teens
Lessons for your business

Why the approach matters

Why consolidating the site mattered

Two sites meant two sets of pages competing for the same searches, plus redirects that slowed visitors and confused search engines. Moving everything into one Shopify store gave Google one clear home for the brand and gave buyers one place to learn, ask and order.

Why being open about delays built trust

Almost every new product launch runs into delays, and FluxJet was no exception. Instead of going quiet, the brand talked about it openly on its social channels, explained what was happening and answered questions as they came in. Buyers who can see a brand being straight with them are more likely to wait, recommend it and come back. That openness turned a common launch problem into a reason to trust the company.

Why social content multiplied it

A new product category has no search demand until people know it exists. Repurposing footage the brand already had, answering real questions and replying to criticism in public created that awareness. When buyers then searched the name, the store was ready to rank first and convert.

FAQ

Questions this raises

Can social media really help SEO?

Not directly through rankings, but it creates the searches. When people see a product on Facebook or Instagram and then search for it by name, those branded searches and clicks are some of the most valuable traffic a store can get.

Should we respond to negative comments?

Yes, carefully. A clear, honest answer, especially as a short video, shows everyone reading that the brand stands behind the product. Many of the best-performing posts started as a hard question.

Why move from WordPress to Shopify?

For this brand, running two platforms split the site in half and added redirects. One Shopify store was simpler to manage, faster for buyers and clearer for search engines. The right platform depends on your business, which is why we diagnose first.

Our launch is delayed. Should we say so publicly?

In most cases, yes. Customers notice silence faster than they notice a late date. A short, honest update on what changed and what happens next keeps people on your side, and the questions it brings are a chance to show how you treat customers.

We already have lots of video footage. Is that enough?

Often it is a great start. Raw B-roll and product clips can be cut into short, useful pieces that answer specific questions. The work is choosing the right moments and posting them consistently.
